So, I've decided to go back and read the X-Men from (almost) the start. Let's talk about why and what this is going to look like.

I got a new Kindle Fire 8 with the desire to read comics again, simple enough start. But as I read the most recent stuff, I was confused way too quickly for my tastes Okay, so, I'll go back. But, where to start? Google, Reddit. Ah, this reading guide suggests Claremont Era #2 (beginning with issue 139) and I decide to go one issue before that, because I wanted to see how Scott left the team for the first time. Uncanny X-Men 138, which was Jean Grey's funeral, naturally, after she kills Dark Phoenix to save the universe.

So, as I'm reading, I'm seeing stuff that catches my eye and makes me chuckle. On a whim, I screenshot some frames and send them to my friend Matt with something witty each time. And you know what? It's fun.

As I looked through the reading lists, though, I noticed that entire titles were missing (where's the Dazzler series?). And I'm a completist at heart, so I do more research and I find a more in-depth website where you subscribe to the comics and it tells you issue by issue what to read via publication date. Perfect.

But holy hell, there are a bajillion Wolverine team-ups. And also, lots of comics I've heard about or am just now seeing, and they could be cool! So, here are the rules for this:

  • Try to read every comic, even if you don't end up having anything to say.

  • I have given myself permission to stop reading a non-core book if I just can't stand it.

  • If I look at a cover and it looks interesting, I'll "pick it up" and see where it goes. Doesn't even have to be an X-men comic!

So, without further ado, let's get started!
